Indigenous Youth Employability Gathering (IYEG)
October 12 - 16, 2023
Co-operators Community Funds Indigenous Youth Employability Gathering created an inclusive space for Indigenous youth to come together and share their thoughts and experiences related to the opportunities and challenges they face as they seek to gain and maintain employment. In collaboration with like-minded program partners who value the advancement of Indigenous youth in the workplace, participants helped identify and explore issues, achievements, and stigma around employment for Indigenous youth. Over 4 days, participants took part in ceremony, experience-based learning, and heard from experts and leaders in the field.
This Gathering was held in Banff, Alberta, traditionally known as Mînî Hrpa by the Îyârhe Nakoda. Banff is located on Treaty 7 Territory; the territory of the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations (Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney), Niitsitapi Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, and the Métis Nation (Region 3).
